Who We Are
HireContractorFinder is independently owned and operated by a small team. There is no big parent company, no investor board, and no corporate headquarters behind this site — just people who were frustrated by how hard it is to find a trustworthy contractor and decided to build something better.
We are not a contractor, and we don't perform home services ourselves. We are a directory and research resource: we collect public business information, organize it by trade and location, and give homeowners tools — cost calculators, comparison views, and hiring guides — to make confident decisions.
How We Make Money
Browsing the directory is free, and basic business listings are free. We make money from optional paid plans that contractors buy for their own listings:
A basic listing with contact details and ratings. No cost, ever.
Photos, a verified business badge, and an enhanced profile.
Everything in Pro, plus priority placement in directory listings.
Paid placements are always clearly marked as "Featured". A paid plan never buys a better rating, a better review, or a place in our editorial guides. Our articles, calculators, and comparison tools are independent of who pays for a listing — rankings in organic results are based on rating, review count, and listing completeness, not payment.
We do not sell placements in editorial content, and we do not accept payments for positive reviews.
Why We're Different
Most contractor directories make their money by charging contractors for homeowner leads — sometimes selling the same lead to four or five competing businesses. We think that's a raw deal for everyone: contractors pay for leads they've already lost, and homeowners get bombarded with calls. We built HireContractorFinder on a different model:
When a homeowner reaches out to a contractor through our directory, that inquiry goes to that contractor alone. We don't auction it, resell it, or share it with competitors.

How We Verify Businesses
Every listing in our directory goes through a verification process before it appears — and is re-checked periodically. Here is exactly what we do:
We confirm the business exists by checking public records and its Google Business Profile.
We verify contact details against public sources when possible, and we check that listed websites actually load.
We confirm the trade category matches the services the business actually offers.
Ratings shown on the site are sourced from Google, and each provider page shows when the rating was last checked.
Listings are re-checked periodically. When users report inaccuracies, we review the report and update or remove the listing.
An honest limitation: we verify public business information — not work quality. A verified listing means the business is real and its details check out. It is not a guarantee of craftsmanship, pricing fairness, or licensing status. Always check a contractor's license and insurance yourself before hiring.
How to Report an Issue
Business information changes — companies move, close, or change numbers. If you spot something wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Every provider page has a "Report" link where you can flag:
- Incorrect address, phone number, or website
- A business that has closed
- A wrong trade category
- Duplicate listings
- Any other inaccuracy
We review every report and update or remove the listing as appropriate. You can also reach us any time through the contact page.
For Business Owners
Claim your listing — free. If your business is listed on HireContractorFinder, you can claim it at no cost to update your information, add photos, and respond to your profile.
Need a correction or removal? If your business information is wrong, or you would like your listing removed entirely, contact us and we will take care of it. Removals are honored promptly — no hoops to jump through.
Editorial Standards
Our blog content is created for homeowners, not search engines. Every guide is reviewed for accuracy, and we update articles when industry best practices change. We do not sell placements in editorial content.
